Postgraduate Institute of Management
The Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM) is a self-financed and semi-autonomous body affiliated with the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. It is situated in a spacious location in Borella, Colombo 08. PIM aims to promote advanced education and professionalism in management in Sri Lanka by providing postgraduate instruction, training, research, and development in various branches of management and administrative studies. Today, it serves the national interest in professional management education and training, offering challenging opportunities for learning and skills development to thousands of senior-level managers and administrators, aiming to become the ‘nation’s management mentor.’
Established in 1986 by an Ordinance under the Universities Act 16 of 1978, PIM is one of the eight postgraduate institutes in the Sri Lankan university system. PIM has obtained ISO 9001:2015 certification and is a member of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), aiming for accreditation by this premier global body.
PIM offers a wide range of programs in business and public administration. The Master of Business Administration (MBA) is the core degree program that has produced over 300 Chief Executive Officers for the nation. It is a two-year program organized into eight academic terms, providing approximately 600 classroom interaction hours and over 60 hours of faculty consultation for research, skills development, directed study, and residential workshops. The Master of Public Administration (MPA) program caters to the knowledge requirements of executive-level officers in the public service.
Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology
We are a leading non-state higher education institute approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under the Universities Act. We are members of the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) and the International Association of Universities (IAU). Additionally, we hold the distinction of being the first Sri Lankan institute accredited by the Institute of Engineering & Technology (IET), UK, and the Engineering Council, UK.
The Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) was founded in 1999 and is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) as an institute symbolizing excellence in private tertiary education. Celebrating 23 years, SLIIT remains a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) and the International Association of Universities (IAU). It is also the first Sri Lankan institute accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology, UK.
In the QS Asia University Rankings 2023, SLIIT has officially secured a place in the Top 750 among Asian higher education institutions, standing out as one of the few Sri Lankan universities included. The Institute consistently produces highly employable graduates across all IT and other industries, catering to over 19,000 students and boasting a network of 30,000+ alumni, achieving an impressive 96% employment rate.
Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology
The University of Colombo, founded in 1921, stands as Sri Lanka’s oldest Higher Education Institution. Guided by its motto, बुद्धिः शर्वत्र भ्रजते (Buddhi Sarvathra Bhrajate) – translated from Sanskrit as ‘Wisdom Enlightens’ – the University of Colombo consistently endeavors to uphold academic excellence across all fields of study. The University is structured into 10 Faculties, encompassing 68 academic departments within these faculties, along with 6 Institutes, a Campus, a School, and over 20 Centres & Units.
Situated primarily in the Colombo metropolitan region, the University of Colombo operates as a state institution, providing access to higher education throughout the country.
